Bio:
Liz Ficalora, notably known drummer and percussionist, is not just positioned at the back of the stage. This native New Yorker comes carrying an arm load of accomplishments with her including a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Under the tutelage of Berklee’s finest teachers such as Gary Chaffee, Fusion and Jazz artist, Keith Copeland, Jazz artist and Fred Budda from the Boston Pops. Liz has grown into a hard working professional musician beginning with her first recorded album at age 19 with the Calliopes Children Steel Band. From there, Liz has earned a National Award for her jingle composition for Maxwell House Coffee.
This year alone, 2007, she produced The Paint Sisters debut album with John Carter Cash where she is credited as the drummer and orchestrator on the album. She engineered and produced 35 songs and 20 songwriters and performed all the drum and percussion and string tracks in her studio. Her past performance credits include her extensive travel touring with Stella Parton and world travel as a drummer and arranger for the Carnival Cruise Line. She has performed with Charlie Louvin, Lisa Carver, Greg Forsman, Anne Mosher, Dave Pomeroy, Charlie Chadwick to name a few. She is currently performing and touring with The Jill Sissel Band.
In 2004 Liz opened a new digital recording studio in pursue of a career as a producer and engineer. Her vision for the future focuses on teaching, producing, engineering and writing. Liz is currently a private teacher of drums, percussion and piano to over 25 students and has authored an instructional manual: “How to Write a Fast and Easy Drum Chart.”
