Bio:
Bandleader, singer/songwriter, keyboardist, and composer, Edward "Tex" Miller cultivates a unique piano-based sound that combines technical facility acquired from years of classical training with songwriting chops refined over a lifetime of careful listening.
Having studied composition and orchestration at Columbia University, followed by a more recent education in film scoring via UCLA’s Extension program, Miller combines elements of pop, electronica, and ambient music into an exciting, individual sound.
He continues to find new outlets for his creative output—from recently produced musical "Venus Attacks" to the programming on a variety of NPR affiliates throughout the country. His music displays a host of diverse influences—from the compelling backbeats of Prefuse 73 and DJ Shadow; to the warm harmonic palette of late 19th-century classical music; to the sonorous melodies of cool jazz—and always rises to the occasion.
