Patrick Carmichael has been writing ever since he graduated with a music degree in 1992. Since 1996, he has been living in New York City, making his living primarily as a drummer, for whom he has worked with such groups as Woody Allen’s Dixieland Jazz Band, Broadway’s Lion King, Bill Haley’s Comets, The Big Apple Circus, and many others. Over the years, writing and producing music has become a bigger part of what Patrick does. In the beginning, he started out writing for his own Lounge Jazz band “Flea Circus”, but lately he has embraced the latest technology, which allows him to write for instrumentation on a much broader scale. As a general rule, Patrick tries to incorporate an element of “livelyness” to his compositions, but he’s not afraid to use electronic instruments, if even to emulate acoustic ones.
