Bio:
A native of southern Georgia, David Nelson currently resides in Brooklyn, NY where he maintains a multi-faceted freelance career as musician, composer, and arranger. As a trombonist, David has performed/recorded with a range of talented artists including Martha Wainwright, The National, Sufjan Stevens, Jon Por Birgisson (Jonsi), Clare and the Reasons, Bryce and Aaron Dessner, Stanley Clarke, Otis Redding III, and Spoon.
In addition to his work in popular music, David performs regularly with many classical and new music ensembles in New York City including The Knights Orchestra, International Contemporary Ensemble, Argento New Music Project, Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, New York City Opera, and several Broadway shows. He can also be heard on film scores and television jingles.
As a composer and producer, David uses his skills as multi-instrumentalist to create masterpieces in his studio. Much of his music has been licensed or specifically scored for tv and film. Credits and placements include "Whatever, Martha!" Saturday Night Live (NBC), The Colbert Report, Hunt's Tomatoes, and Bosley Hair Restoration.
