myopic is the solo project from instrumentalist jeff ryan (sarah jaffe, st. vincent, the new year, pleasant grove, crushed stars) who recorded and co-produced the record with engineer stuart sikes (cat power, modest mouse, califone).
the project originally began due to ryan being asked to write a piece of music for a theatrical production (Edmund) which ran in Seattle’s Open Circle Theater. Those initial ideas eventually progressed into writing more sounds and pieces and also by collaborating w/ members of Pleasant Grove, The Theater Fire, The Paper Chase, baboon and Crushed Stars, resulting in the Plays in Pieces ep.
