Geoff Achison ins an award winning guitarist, singer and songwriter with an enviable international reputation Starting out as a highly regarded blues guitarist, he has developed his own sound which can be beautifully intricate or feature high energy explosiveness.
Growing up in rural Australia, Geoff developed a passion for American blues music and taught himself to play on his mother’s beat up acoustic guitar.
In his early 20’s he found employment as lead guitarist with Melbourne’s top blues band ‘Dutch Tilders & The Blues Club’. Geoff departed in 1995 to pursue his own musical ideas forming the first incarnation of his own band, The Souldiggers and releasing the first of many CD’s of his own blues/funk flavoured materiel.
He represented Melbourne at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and won the Albert King Award for his guitar skills. He went on to accept an endorsement deal with the Gibson guitar company’s acoustic division. He tours regularly and has been most active in the US, UK and Australian scenes playing clubs & music festivals. Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna) has invited him each year since 1998 as a guest instructor at his Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp in Ohio. “Geoff is one of the best blues guitarists I know with a completely individual style.” – Jorma Kaukonen
He has won a swag of awards over the years for writing, performing and recording. In 2007 Geoff and his band, The Souldiggers, picked up the Chain Blues Music Award in Australia for ‘Group Of The Year’.
Most recent recordings include an energetic live set on 'Souldiggin’ CD', the all origainal project 'Little Big Men' plus a collection of acoustic music entitled 'Acho Solo'.
In early 2007 Geoff accepted an offer to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia, USA where he now resides.
