~ Joi Veer

Joi has many musical influences, from early favorites such as Peter Gabriel, Graham Parker, U2, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, John Lennon, Petula Clark and James Taylor to the brilliance of Alanis Morissette, Goo Goo Dolls, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jeff Buckley, Dave Matthews, Persephone’s Bees & Lifehouse.

Joi Veer has a new CD collection of 15 of his most diverse instrumental tracks called “UNSUNG.” These tracks vary from children’s to fun quirky to vintage nostalgia to retro hip-hop to anthem-like action rock tunes. Placements already achieved include The Late Show with David Letterman, MTV’s “Exposed,” “Access Hollywood,” Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes,” “America’s Funniest Pets & People” and “Kids Space.” Cut-downs, loops, music beds and stings for promos/commercials are also available.

Joi’s previous CD, “PEARL DIVING” features 14 of his most dynamic songs that are naturals for dramatic film, reality television and sports events. Among the numerous music placements are ABC’s “Men In Trees,” “American Idol Rewind,” UNCF’s “An Evening of Stars,” and an A&E special, Evil Knievel’s Wild Ride. These tracks were used extensively, along with many from the “UNSUNG” and “ON” collections, in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. Also, his song “Lost” received airplay in the NY area. This time around, he teamed up with renowned producer, Armand John Petri (Goo Goo Dolls, Six Pence None The Richer, 10,000 Maniacs) who helped craft these recordings. In addition, Chuck Burgi, an accomplished drummer (Hall & Oates, Movin’ Out) produced 2 tracks.

Joi Veer’s debut CD, “ON” features 12 of his heartfelt pop and rock songs. Chiming in on these tracks are drummers Steve Holley (McCartney & Wings, Joe Cocker) & Shawn Pelton (Saturday Night Live, Shawn Colvin), as well as bassists Jeff Allen (Duncan Sheik) & Mark Egan (Joan Osborne, Marc Cohn). Also contributing were engineers Steve Addabbo (Suzanne Vega, Shelter Island Sound) and Pat Dillet (They Might Be Giants). “ON” has been embraced by e-zines, receiving reviews from THEGLOBALMUSE.COM, MUSICIANSREALM.COM, IMPACTPRESS.COM and SCORE!ROCKS.COM. It has received airplay on college and commercial radio stations in the NY/NJ and Boston areas. Among the many placements are the songs “A Simple Wish” on FOX’s hit TV show “America’s Most Wanted,” and “Light Of Day” on Animal Planet’s “That’s My Baby.” His song “I Know What I Know” was in the Top-50 on broadbandtalentnet.com(Billboard), and featured in an ESPN sports presentation. In addition, he placed the song “Somewhere In Your Soul” on the TV show “Beyond Chance” on Lifetime Television hosted by Melissa Etheridge and in the feature film ”Hook, Line & Sinker,” and “The Cruelest Fate” in an indie short film, “Perceptions.”

ARTIST PROFILE

It is the song that drives this artist. Never bound by “formula,” Joi’s style has exploded through his gravitation to the guitar as his main songwriting tool. His drumming background has given him a keen awareness of rhythm and percussion which bubbles beneath his signature vocals delivering waves of fluid melody. A splash of “world beat” flavor complements the ever-present electric and acoustic guitars.

The human experience is his most fascinating palette. The interaction and perspective of people are the substance of his lyrics which are woven through the fabric of infectious melodies. Whether a simple statement of emotion or a testimonial to Joi’s life experiences, the result is a brutally honest song written and delivered with conviction as an extension of himself. Joi constantly dares and re-defines his artistic license. His songs are conceptually, lyrically and musically engaging in their dynamics.
