Bio:
Seth Farber is one of the busiest pianists in Manhattan. The assistant conductor and keyboardist for the Broadway musical “Hairspray”, Seth spends what time off he has touring with folk/blues legend Odetta. He also arranged, produced and played piano on Odetta's two most recent CDs, including the Grammy-nominated Blues Everywhere I Go.
Raised in New York City by musician parents, Seth began his career in the blues and rock clubs on Bleecker Street, ultimately landing a position as musical director for Willy “Mink”DeVille, with whom he logged over 30 European tours. He has recorded and performed with numerous other artists including Billy Joel, John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Roseanne Cash, Cliff Eberhardt and Curtis Stigers.
A composer in his own right, Farber has scored a number of television projects. His most ambitious work to date is his own critically acclaimed CD, “Late One Night”. With nods in the direction of Dr. John, Professor Longhair and jazz legend Gene Harris, the solo-piano CD blends New Orleans blues, jazz and ragtime into a soulful gumbo Dirty Linen has called “nothing short of excellent.”
