The spawn of a badly ventilated, dank New York boiler room/rehearsal space, Twelve20Six gathered in late 1999 to hammer out some rather extensive instrumental arrangements for drums, acoustic bass, guitar, tuba, trombone, saxophone and assorted noise generators. Over the course of two years they have moved their operation to fill up slightly more sanitary, highly-acclaimed venues for new improvised music such as The Knitting Factory Old Office and The Cornelia St. Cafe. This release appropriately documents the gamut they boldly run, from Prokofiev’s ballet, to backbeats, to out-and-out mayhem.
