After completing the film composers program at UCLA Extensions, under the mentoring of Don Ray, David composed and orchestrated the score for THE DISNEY STORY, a documentary of the Disney Company. After several years of scoring children’s animated videos like Donald and the Wheel (featuring the legendary voice of Hal Smith), Eleanor Richman of Buena Vista Productions hired David to compose for the series SING ME A STORY WITH BELLE. He wrote new orchestral scores for classic Disney cartoons like FERDINAND THE BULL, THE UGLY DUCKLING, THE BRAVE ENGINEER, THE FLYING MOUSE , and LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND THE THREE PIGS.
“The Disney series SING ME A STORY WITH BELLE was a turning point for me. I had grown up with the cartoon music of Carl Stalling and Scott Bradley, so it was like a dream come true to compose for these great Disney classics. It’s some of my most memorable and creative work. I love cartoon music!”

In the mid to late 90’s, David worked with producer Michael Greenfeld at Universal Pictures, and Bob Israel at Aspect Ratio scoring feature film trailers. He composed original scores for CLOCKERS, DRAGONHEART, ED, JERRY MAGUIRE, GOLDIGGERS, OUT OF SIGHT, and CASINO. He also orchestrated for SESAME STREET LIVE , HAPPILY EVER AFTER (HBO), RIMBA’S ISLAND(Dic), PINOCCHIO (New Line), and written additional underscore for A VERY BRADY SEQUEL (Paramount).
“My cues for “A Very Brady Sequel” fell into the hands of my friend, and editor, Anita Brandt-Burgoine and she slugged them in as temp music. When director Arlene Sanford viewed the film, she loved the cues and insisted they stay in the final edit.”
Following through with his love of animation and music, David worked with Philippines based company ImagineAsia to create the score for the ‘video game-like’ TALES FROM THE RAMAYANA.
“The score for Ramayana is very organic. There are always elements of time present in the development of my themes. The music ideas evolve from past to present, and continues to develop into the future. This is a principle that I learned from my mentor, Dr. Michael Isaccson. The music always develops out of itself, organically developing with the story.”
David’s music library is represented by PUMP AUDIO. His music is now continually heard on MTV, VH1, A&E, ABC Family, USA NETWORK, NBC, History Channel, Sci Fi, Spike Network, Animal Planet, and Oxygen.
David made his first leap into video game music working with game composer Jack Wall on NEOPETS: The Darkest Fairy (Sony).
“Working with Jack on NEOPETS gave me an opportunity to explore my voice through a new medium, and still use my skills as a dramatist. I worked on cinematic segments of the game, so many of the same rules of film scoring applied.”
Jack and Tommy Tallarico, Senior Directors of VIDEO GAMES LIVE hired David to transcribe and orchestrate three movements of the score from the Disney movie and game TRON, composed by Wendy Carlos. David’s work was performed at the Hollywood Bowl by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
