Pound at 31-year low as FTSE 100 hits High

VOICED: The FTSE-100 index broke above the 7,000 level for the first time since May last year and finished close to its record high. Meanwhile, the smaller FTSE 250 index of mid-caps comfortably surpassed its highest-ever level. But it wasn't all good news. The pound slumped to its lowest point against the U.S. dollar since 1985. And against the euro, sterling reached a five-year low.
