Turkey prepares to open research station in Antarctica

ANTARCTICA/ISTANBUL, TURKEY - FEBRUARY 20: The footage shows views from Antarctica shooted from ship that brings Turkish research team to the continent as part of works to build a research station as well as a woman member of the team planting Turkish flag. The work is part of the project run by Turkish Science, Industry and Technology Ministery under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan. A team under the presidency of woman director of Istanbul Technical University Polar Research Center (ITU PolReC) Burcu Ozsoy will go to the continent to carry out pre-feasibility studies for the base in the next few days, Ozsoy says that the scientific study was important to collect information on climate change. Turkey which actively participates the scientific researches in Antarctica through its scientists since 1960s currently has 3 scientists conducting researches in the continent.
