Russell Brand backed petition on UK drug laws

Russell Brand backed petition on UK drug laws; ENGLAND: London: GIR: INT Russell Brand (comedian) STUDIO Interview SOT - making drugs illegal doesn't work - didn't prevent him from taking drugs, 'complicated' the situation - In my particular case what would have helped is regulation and therapy - not talking about lets have a free for all, some crazy wacked out world where everyone is on drugs - drugs should be pharmaceutical quality, controlled, prescribed and not part of a huge criminal economy - Caroline Lucas has proposed full investigation into UK drug policy - got over 100,000 signatures to be debated in Parliament - this could be another example of why politics isn't representative - know there is a mandate, politicians know that drug laws are not working, and yet it hasn't changed - not interested in the power of politicians, I'm interested in the power of people - this does represent the views of people - these politicians are irrelevant but until the revolution, this is the system we will be using - (on telling young people not to vote) refuse to be drawn on this subject, parliamentary democracy does not work - what doesn't make sense are the current laws around drugs in this country, people are unneccessarily dying and a disease is being stigmatised
