Urban musher Peggy Jewell is pulled by her dogs on a trail at Farview Park, in Costa Mesa, California, 40 miles (63 km) southeast of Los Angeles, December 15, 2012. Urban mushing is similar to traditional snow sledding, but instead of pulling a snow sled, urban mushing teams of 'working snow dogs' such as Siberian Huskies and Malamutes pull a scooter or cart with wheels over dry land courses. Teams range in size from one to ten or more dogs. Samoyeds, Doberman Pinschers and even smaller dogs can easily pull carts, scooters or bicycles.
