The event marks the 500th anniversary of a visit by Emperor Maximilian I to St. Wendel. In contrast to other historical reenactments, St. Wendel organizers claim they have brought dedicated and highly-trained enthusiasts from across the globe and that all clothing, weapons, tools and other accessories have been made with great attention to detail and historical accuracy. The day's program included real jousts, authentic music, a display of coats of arms, demonstrations of Middle Ages artillery use and sword fighting and a full charge by opposing cavalry.
