Two Somali men play a game of Shax on a broken sidewalk in one of the the oldest neighborhoods of Mogadishu on August 17, 2011. This neighborhood used to be one of the finest in the city and housed some of the fanciest houses in the 70's and 80's decade. Two decades of armed struggle that began in 1991 has reduced large parts of the city to rubble. Currently, the Somali Federal Transitional Government (TFG) is in power with the help of a 9,000 soldier strong contingent of the African Union and is battling the Al-Shebab, an Al-Qeada affiliated radical Islamist group.
