Caption: Two people stand on January 3, 2013 at the Pier of Scheveningen. The Scheveningen Pier has been declared bankrupt after its owners, hotel and catering family Van der Valk, failed to find a buyer. The pier was put up for sale in March but parts of it were closed to the public in November because it is no longer considered safe. The Pier is still open for the public, but several parts are closed because of overdue maintenance.
