In exchange for US army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who was held hostage for five years, the United States last week released the Taliban commander who is among those accused of orchestrating the 1999 carnage in villages dotting the pristine Shomali plains north of Kabul. The swap has sparked anger and resentment in villages such as Deh Saqi, which still bear the scars of that cataclysm - charred, ruined and bombed out houses and an anguished generation with a thirst for vengeance.
