Caption: ENGELS AIR BASE, SARATOV, RUSSIA-DECEMBER 19, 2012: This image from December 19, 2012 shows jet blasts that melted the snow behind many of the bombers, giving an indication of flight operations at Engels. All eleven Blackjacks are home, with two of the aircraft showing evidence that their engines were recently fired with jet blasts of up to 300 meters. Five of the reported 18 Bears are absent with jet blasts behind several empty hardstands. Construction of an additional runway is ongoing; but not much progress has been made since November.
