Melbourne, AUSTRALIA: The front pages of Melbourne's morning papers carry large headlines, 10 October 2006, denouncing the exploding of a nuclear bomb undertaken by North Korea on October 09. Australia has hauled in North Korea's ambassador to protest Pyongyang's nuclear test but stopped short of expelling him, saying there was a "marginal advantage" in maintaining diplomatic ties. Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said he had told ambassador Chon Jae Hong the test had further isolated the communist regime from the rest of the world, threatened regional security and "humiliated" China.
