Most parts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, received fresh snowfall, leading to closure of the 300 km (188 miles) Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the only road link between Kashmir and rest of India. Project Beacon authorities of the Border Roads Organisation, that maintains the highway, had already started efforts to clear the highway for traffic. The number of vehicles stranded on the highway was being ascertained. (Photo by Yawar Nazir/Getty Images)
