Sri Lanka has launched a major campaign to revive rugby on the island with the president's eldest son leading efforts to build a team that can qualify for the 2019 World Cup in Japan. Although Sri Lanka has some of the world's oldest rugby clubs, the former British colony is yet to make an international impression and is giving a major push to develop the game.The island is getting world-class players and coaches from England, South Africa, Fiji, the US and New Zealand for a local premier league tournament this month with the aim of reviving the game and wooing youngsters to sign up.'We are giving our players an opportunity to play alongside international stars,' key mover of the local Carlton Super 7's tournament, Namal Rajapakse, told AFP.
