SERBIA-KOSOVO-MONUMENT

A Serbian gendarme points his rifle as part of an operation to secure the area during removing of the monument of the Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac (UCPMB) in the town of Presevo on January 20, 2013. Serbian authorties removed early in the morning the monument eracted in the ethnic Albanian stronghold town of Presevo and dedicated to the fighters in the 2001 conflict against Serbian security forces. The monument, dedicated to the fallen members of the Liberation Army for Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac, whose goal was to unite the ethnic Albanian majority area in the Presevo Valley with neighbouring Kosovo, was erected in November in front of the ethnic-Albanian-run municipality building in Presevo.
