Thirteen people, including a three-year-old boy, were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a crowd gathered at the basketball courts in Cornell Square Park in September. Twenty children and 6 adults were killed when a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook School. Sameer was killed on August 5, 2012 while walking near his home with his father and brother. Sam was also a victim of gun violence, having been shot in the head after he stumbled into an armed robbery at a gas station in 1994. Sameer is 1 of nearly 1000 people who have been murdered in Chicago in the past two years, most by gunfire. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)
