[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] A Royal Air Force (RAF) CH-47 Chinook helicopter swoops into the British military headquarters in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, with an under-slung army Land Rover. The lightly armoured 4x4 vehicles, known as 'snatch' Land Rovers were particularly vulnerable to improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and were later replaced with much larger, heavier, but less manoeuvrable trucks. The twin engine Chinook helicopters were the fastest in the British fleet, with a maximum speed of over 160 miles per hour.
