circa 1760: Robert Rogers (c.1732-1795). American militia soldier. Raised and commanded Rogers' Rangers aiding British in French and Indian War 1754-63, with Wolfe's forces at Quebec 1759 and in Montreal campaign 1760. Also served in Pontiac's War 1763-64. During the American Revolution he was regarded as a loyalist spy, openly joined the British forces, raising the Queen's Rangers for operations around New York City. Fled to England 1780.
