Refugees Face Possible Police Intervention
BERLIN, GERMANY - JULY 02: Refugees (R) stand across from watching police officers on the roof of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule school in the Kreuzberg district where approximately 40 refugees have barricaded themselves inside since June 24, on July 2, 2014 in Berlin, Germany. After a week of negotiations that have only led to stalemate, city officials asked the police to evict the refugees, though it is so far unclear when that will happen. Approximately 250 refugees, including Africans and Roma, were staying at the school under unhygienic conditions and most accepted an offer from the city last week to move elsewhere, though about 40 remain and are refusing to leave until they are granted asylum in Germany.
