Rebellion and violation of international humanitarian laws have been filed against rebel chieftain Nur Misuari, the leader and founder of the Moro National Liberation Front, his top aide, Habier Malik and undetermined number of John Does and Jane Does who remain at large. The President said the military and police will continue to pursue the whereabouts of Misuari and Malik, believed to be still holding between 20 and 30 civilian hostages. The fighting that started September 9, 2013 came weeks after Misuari declared an independence of Mindanao. His group signed a peace accord with government in 1996.
