The hospital is featured in Kief Davidson and Cori Shepherd Stern's 'Open Heart', which is nominated in the 2013 Oscars' Documentary Short category. It tells the story of eight Rwandan children and teens, one only three years old, who leave home to get life-saving heart operations at Salam Centre, which is run by the Italian non-governmental organisation Emergency.
