Peace House activists sit September 12, 2013 at an empty spot where a landmark peace vigil that has stood outside the White House in downtown Washington, DC for more than 30 years. According to Concepcion Picciotto, the legendary protester who has served as the vigils longest-running caretaker the hand-lettered anti-nuclear signs and the white shelter that have been a defining feature of Lafayette Square for decades has been removed by US Park Police.
