Qantas Airlines Grounds Its Entire Fleet In Industrial Dispute

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - OCTOBER 29: Passengers are seen at the Qantas check in terminal on October 29, 2011 in Melbourne, Australia. Qantas CEO Alan Joyce announced at a press conference that all Qantas flights, both domestic and international are to be grounded immediately. Joyce has blamed ongoing Industrial action as the reason behind the grounding. As of 8pm Monday, October 31, all workers involved in the dispute will be locked out of the company, and in the interest of safety the decision was made to ground the fleet of 108 planes in 22 countries straight away. Transport Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the government will apply to Fair Work Australia for an outcome, but said he was 'extremely concerned'. (Photo by Robert Cianflone/Getty Images)
