Woman in an old, abandoned city mansion

Credit: Rita Banerji / Contributor
[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] One of the old, abandoned mansions with beautiful architecture in North Calcutta, built by Indian merchants before India's independence. But these houses were too large and expensive to maintain and so the families eventually abandoned them. They are occupied by homeless families. Usually a dozen or more families squatter in different sections of the home. An old woman and her cat live in this section.
