Caption: A Nigerian train is seen at Lagos Terminus on February 8, 2013. The rejuvenated Nigerian Railway Corporation has commenced operation of mass transit on the Lagos-Kano route, Nigeria's major commercial cities. The state-owned corporation which went into bankruptcy during the last 20 years due to lack of maintenance of infrastructure and high numbers of employees also began haulage of petroleum products from Lagos to the north of the country. Earlier last year, the Railway Corporation had acquired 20 pressurised tank wagons as it prepared to commence the fuel haulage. The 20 wagons have the capacity to lift 900,000 litres of petroleum products, the equivalent of 27 road tankers.
