LIBYA-UNREST-SECURITY

Libyan police officers set up checkpoints in the Libyan capital Tripoli on January 25, 2015 as clashes continue in the west and east of the country. Foreign deputy minister Hassan al-Saghir was kidnapped by gunmen from his hotel room in the eastern city of Al-Baida and was driven to an unknown destination, a ministry official said. No group immediately claimed his abduction but Libya has been rocked by a spate of kidnappings of both foreigners and Libyans since the overthrow of longtime dictator Moamer Kadhafi in a NATO-backed uprising in 2011.
