Demonstrators gathered at the French Consulate in Istanbul following the killings of three Kurdish women activists on 10 January, including Sakine Cansiz, a founding member of the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). Cansiz, who had been living in exile in France for years, was found dead in the early hours of 10 January in a Kurdish documentation centre on the first floor of an apartment building near Gare du Nord train station. Two other women - the president of the centre, Fidan Dogan, and Leyla Soylemez, also described as an activist - were also killed. AFP PHOTO/MIRA (Photo credit should read MIRA/AFP/Getty Images)
