Khaled Almilaji
TORONTO, ON - JUNE 16 -
Khaled Almilaji and his wife Jehan Mouhsen after landing at Pearson Airport in Toronto.
In January, Syrian doctor Khaled Almilaji's face graced international news websites and papers, symbolizing the cruelty and chaos following U.S. President Donald Trump's travel ban for Muslims as the Brown University graduate student found himself refused re-entry to the U.S. and stranded in Turkey and separated from his pregnant wife.
With collaboration between faculties at Brown and U of T, Almilaji will start his grad program in public health at U of T this summer/fall. (Carlos Osorio/Toronto Star via Getty Images)
