Afzal Guru, from Sopore town in the north of Kashmir, was hung on February 09 for his role in the 2001 Indian parliament attack which left 14 dead. The hanging has further strained relations between India - who blamed the attack on 'Pakistan backed' militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed - and neighbouring Pakistan and has seen an military increase from both along the border.Curfew was lifted from some parts of Srinagar after four days.
