Church renovation

TORONTO, ON - SEPTEMBER 24: Inside Beach United Church, modern LED lighting hangs from the ceiling. The church, built in 1914, has undergone a spectacular 3-year reno, taken out all its pews so chairs can be used in any configuration, revamped the kitchen to make it 3-times bigger (it's part of a drop-in lunch program), put in automatic solar blinds, installed the largest rooftop solar system of any church in GTA and left its old chimney standing because it has endangered chimney swifts. It opens for services again at end of the month. September 24, 2013. (Bernard Weil/Toronto Star via Getty Images)
