Heavy Snowfall Brings Skiers To Kashmir
Caption: GULMARG, KASHMIR - DECEMBER 31: Indian tourists write a New Year's greeting into the snow on December 31, 2012 in Gulmarg, to the west of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-administered Kashmir, India. Following the second round of heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley, skiers from around the globe have reached the famous ski resort of Gulmarg, located less than six miles from the ceasefire line - or Line of Control (LoC) - that divides Kashmir from India and Pakistan. The resort is known for long-run skiing, snow-boarding, heli-skiing and steep mountains. A number of foreign governments, including the United Kingdom, have lifted travel advisories to citizens traveling to Kashmir which has raised the hopes of the local tourism industry following violence in the region.
