Heavy Snowfall Brings Skiers To Kashmir
Caption: GULMARG, KASHMIR - DECEMBER 29: Indian tourists take pictures after a snowfall on December 29, 2012 in Gulmarg, 54 km (35 miles) to the west of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-administered Kashmir, India. With the second round of heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley, skiers from around the globe have descended on the ski resort of Gulmarg, known for long-run skiing, snow-boarding, heli-skiing and steep mountains. Gulmarg is located less than six miles from the ceasefire line or Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan. As a sense of normalcy has started to return to this strife-torn region, various foreign governments, including the United Kingdom, have lifted the travel advisory to its citizens traveling to Kashmir, raising the hopes of the local tourism industry, officials said.
