Presently there are more then 1500 emu farms all across India and are farmed primarily for their meat, leather, and oil. The meat is a low-fat meat, the fat is rendered to produce oil for cosmetics, dietary supplements, and therapeutic products, and the leather is used in small items such as wallets and shoes.
