HONG KONG, CHINA: Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing (R) and his son Victor Li (L), smile before their company's annual results announcement 23 March 2000 in Hong Kong. Li's flagship developer Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd. net profit in 1999 soared 59.37 billion Hong Kong dollars (7.63 billion USD) from 6.112 billion dollars a year earlier, and his associated conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Group reported record profits of 117.35 billion USD compared to 8.71 billion USD in 1998.
