KABUL, Afghanistan: German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder (C) arrives to meet with German soldiers from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) at Camp Warehouse in Kabul, 11 October 2004. Schroeder's one-day visit is the first by a Western leader to Afghanistan since its historic presidential elections on 09 October. Germany has contributed around 2,000 troops to the 9,000-strong NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and runs two reconstruction teams in the north of the country.
