Gentlemen XI for the fixture vs Players at Lord's Cricket Ground, London, 1899. Gentlemen vs Players was an annual fixture between teams of amateurs (the Gentlemen) and professionals (the Players). The first match was played in 1806 and it became an annual fixture from 1819 onwards. It came to an end in 1962 when the distinction between amateur and professional players was ended.
