In Ireland same-sex marriage is not permitted as it is in Denmark. On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 same-sex and hetero-sex couples from Denmark and abroad are married in the Copenhagen Opera House close to Eurovision Island. The event is one of several wedding events taking place in Copenhagen during the Eurovision Song Contest and is organized by the City of Copenhagen. The capital of Denmark also marks with these events that in 2014 it is 25 years ago, that Denmark as the first country in the world legalized same-sex marriage.
