Hofgeismar lies along the 'Fairy Tale Road' (in German: Die Maerchenstrasse) that leads through the region between Frankfurt and Bremen where the Grimm brothers collected and adapted most of their fairy tales, which include such global classics as Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel, in the early 19th century.
