NASCAR Dads Predicted To Elect Bush For Second Term
LAS VEGAS - MARCH 7: NASCAR fans follow the race from the top of their flag adorned motor homes parked in the race track's infield March 7, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Generally blue collar or middle-class Americans, who are NASCAR fans, also called NASCAR Dads in contrast to Soccer Moms, have emerged as a key voter group for national elections in the U.S., including the 2004 presidential race, where they are specifically targeted by U.S. President George W. Bush campaign. Some 37 million strong, NASCAR fans tend to be white, hold traditional values, are religious, very patriotic, and vote Republican. NASCAR, the fastest growing sport in the U.S., is now the second most popular sport behind baseball. The social aspect and sense of community of NASCAR is a strong draw for many fans.
