The ONIC (National Indigenous Organization of Colombia) estimates that in 2011 there was a displacement of 5327 indigenous people, this amount was doubled in 2012. The ONIC warning calls, in its accounts of indigenous people in Colombia, that they are on the verge of extinction, due to the assassination of its members and the forced displacement towards urban areas brought on by fighting between armed groups.
