Cal Fire Firefighter Chris Gannon monitors backfires his San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles Cal Fire team set along Guiberson Road near Piru to burn off extra brush fuel Thursday morning as Firefighters try to use favorable winds to get the upper hand on the fire today. Fire officials report they have 40 percent containment and about 16,400 acres have burned as the fire grew by only 300 acres last night. The wildfire erupted near Fillmore Tuesday fueled by windy, dry and hot weather. (Photo by Al Seib/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
