Some Indonesian workers earn their livelihood by running a 'garbage business' by scavenging recyclable materials to run centers making recycled items to be sold to factories. Environmentalists estimate around 60 percent of the 6,500 tonnes of garbage collected in Jakarta each day can be recycled instead of being dumped at landfills.
